PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

Dr. Chi Keung Lam

Dr. Chi Keung Lam (usually goes by “Lam”) is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Delaware. He received his B.S. degree in Purdue University, and Ph.D degree in the University of Cincinnati under mentorship of Dr. Litsa Kranias. He later did his postdoctoral training in Dr. Joseph Wu lab at Stanford University. He is interested in understanding how calcium and stress signaling are regulated in the cardiovascular system. The ultimate research goal is to develop therapeutic strategies to target different types of cardiac diseases.

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Halley Wisner obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she also played soccer. She has interests in learning about cellular mechanisms, how they relate to disease, and how we can use what we learn to manage and treat those diseases. Her hobbies include baking, hiking, running, and being a mom to her dog Charlie.

DOCTORAL STUDENT

Visnu Pritom Chowdhury is a MS student of Biological Sciences. He received his MBBS degree from the University of Dhaka, followed by an MSc in Biotechnology from BRAC University. He is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiomyopathies and learning the art of drug discovery. He loves music, drawing, calisthenics, and hanging out with friends when he has time.

Richard Roberts is a PhD student of Biological Sciences. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with a minor in philosophy from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. In his graduate studies, he aims to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying heart disease with the ultimate goal of developing therapeutics to help treat these conditions. In his free time he enjoys music and podcasts as well as skateboarding, football, hiking, camping, and traveling.

Sujoita Sen

Sujoita Sen is a PhD student of Biological Sciences. She hails from the city of joy, Kolkata, India. She completed her masters in microbiology from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. For her grad studies, she is interested to study the molecular mechanisms of cardiac diseases and their links to other conditions, with the main aim to design effective therapeutics. Beyond research, she loves music, dance and literature.
